Formosa Betrayed Opening in Theaters in LA/OC

This weekend marks the opening of the movie Formosa Betrayed in the greater Southern California area. My friends Jon and Evita are part of the production team and have put a lot of work into it. I'm gonna try to check this out on Saturday.

Wait, wait, WAIT!! Is that BRYAN LIU?!

And here's a little write-up from rufuku (who is Taiwanese, not Filipino, despite his skin tone):
“Formosa Betrayed” is a movie created, based on actual events that happened during the infamous 228 massacre in Taiwan. With strong tensions still in the air between China and Taiwan, this movie hopes to bring the mildly ignored issue of Taiwanese independence to a national light. With Obama’s recent arms sale to Taiwan as well as the buzz about the option of “Taiwanese” be included in the US Census 2010, we need to spread knowledge of our fight for freedom.

Whether you are Filipino, Japanese, African-American, Caucasian, or Mexican, the story of freedom has never gotten old.

What One's Eating: Blow Js

(That's a Superbad reference in case you aren't familiar.)

A chill Saturday night with some foodie buddies from UCSD: Christine and David. We went to BJ's in Brea (no not Irvine) for some brews, snacks, and conversation.

Finally a Saturday off. No parties. No commitments. Just some time for myself. I started the morning off with Dexter. (The intro is pretty damn graphic, I love it.) Then I got my brother into Friday Night Lights (an eye for an eye). Afterwards we went to Neeraj's house for some Chest, Shoulders, Triceps action. The soreness is kicking in.

February 14: Happy Valentine's Day, Dudes

I woke up in the hotel room to find Gian on the floor. In the other room was Julz and Kev. I had lunch with Julz, TK, Mark, and Chauch. And then kicked it at the shop with some more dudes. Get the picture?

No I'm not bitter or mad. I'm just stating a fact.

Besides, look how dreamy Julz is!

New Nike SBs at Blends SD. Check em out. (My blog is a free billboard.)

Neighborhood for lunch. Keep an eye out for the collaboration with 5&A Dime soon...

Food.

Not a total dudefest, we are graced by Ms. Suzie putting out a trashcan fire. Just another beautiful day in Downtown San Diego.

I cut my trip short as beads of sweat started to appear on my face and I felt dehydrated. I wasn't able to check out On Broadway for some 18 and over action. Fever ruins another visit. See you next time SD!

Holiday Block Party February 2010

I can't remember the last time I've missed a House of Blues Block Party event. I brought a few friends from high school and college along with me this time. They wanted a piece of the action! My OC and SD worlds were about to collide. I didn't take too many pictures until the end of the night, but I'll make do with what I've got. Thanks for all the drinks everyone. Along with my trusty flask, I got drunk, fast.

Check out Profile's blog for some awesome shots of the night. (I'm stealing some of these homie.) Just check his blog on the regular. You won't be disappointed.

Let's jump right into it with Bruce and Jasmine making the trip down for the long weekend. I hope you guys enjoyed yourselves! And thanks for the Jagerbombs. It's cough-syrupy properties helped me through the night.

Let's add my buddy Phil from UCSD to the picture. Wuttup dawg!

It's always a fun time with Gelen! Have you seen Mark? (Buahahahaha.)

Throughout the night, Brandon was commenting on how he recognized Bruce from my blogposts when I'm in Anaheim. Bruce specifically referred to Brandon as the guy from Best Buy. (Maybe from the 2nd half of this post? You guys were BOTH in that one.) xjomox.blogspot.com: where the magic happens.

At the end of the night, I stayed with Julz at his hotel room. Just how I wanted to spend Valentine's Day... Eat bread my lovely...

February 13: Corvette Diner, Happy Birthday Cindy!

Just before the long weekend started, I managed to get a cough 'n cold bug into my system. Major fail before another trip down to San Diego. I got as much rest as I could and headed down anyway. Apologies to anyone that I may have gotten sick!

A few of us met up at Corvette Diner in Point Loma to celebrate Cindy's 24th. I remember the old one in Hillcrest, but I don't remember a giant kids arcade to play in. A few of the cast for this post.

Maverick and Goose doing flybys. That's a negative Ghost Rider.

I finally got to catch up with Annabelle! It's been too long dude.

GO LAKERS!

Birthday shake. (Girl you know I I I...)

Time to dance!

I don't wanna be a chicken, I don't wanna be a duck...

I just wanna get crunk...

Cute Cindy.

"Hey hun, do you like it?" -Cindy
"Yeah... I can't stop looking at it..." -Joe
(That wasn't a real conversation, but I needed to post this picture haha.)

Finishing touches.

Finally the food comes. Everyone got burgers and sandwiches. I got the chicken tortilla soup which was pretty good. I wish I got a burger though!

Happy birthday once again Cindy!

Thanks for the closing picture Guil.
