HoB Block Party 2009 Memorial Day Photo Galleries

Official photos from Victory Nightlife of Sunday's festivities are finally up!

CLICK HERE to view coverage from HOB by Steve Bitanga.
CLICK HERE to view photo booth pictures from HOB by Manny Santiago.

I wish I bombed more pictures in the booth like we used to do. At least I got two shots with my co-worker, Lizel (Kaba Modern/Legacy)! Matchin' the purple and black steeze. I wish I made a different face though.

This is where I was most of the night, but sober haha. That VIP area was f*cking crazy.

Plan Ahead: An Extended SD Visit

That was for you Kimtan.

I took an extra day off from work just so I wouldn't have to deal with driving back to Anaheim in traffic and so I could just relax. I got lunch with Terry, Annabelle and Cam at Mona Lisa in Little Italy.

Some shots of downtown while driving back to Bums.

Monkey Munch.

Kicked it at 5&A Dime for a bit. And chilled at the house. Later that night I got dinner with some of Willy's regulars.

Karaage.

AND FINALLY! An Adult Emporium shot which is a trademark of Alvinisms. Me, Erwin, Gels, Alvin, Althea (hiding), Kimtan, and Richard.

So my intent was to just drive back and get back home around 8pm. I got home at midnight. FAILLLL. Good times SD. Sorry I probably won't see you this weekend. :(

Memorial Day Recovery and Eats

The day after any wild drunk night seems to have the same protocol: wake up late (or early for you unlucky ones), eat some food, and recap the night before with the sober and the drunk.

Another standard is the drunk baby who basically needs to be taken care of at the end of the night. Ours that night was the birthday girl Josie. Terry basically was up till 6am watching over her because Josie was borderline alcohol-poisoned (open eyelids, eyes rolled back, and some nasty looking puke). Homegirl was more amazed and excited than concerned that she blacked out. Well Josie, you definitely beat your condition from last year.
"How did I get here? Why am I on the floor?! AMAZING!!!" -Josie.
"Bitch I should kick your ass for last night!" -Terry.

Well Josie had to get home for her birthday celebration since she had family coming over. The bumsville gals and I joined her for some good ol Filipino potluck action.

Terry was a little nervous to meet her soulmate's parents. Annabelle is just pumped to eat.

Wow. I think I almost cried when I ate this. I felt like I was back at an old family party in Fullerton circa 1992.

Ain't no birthday without a birthday cake. 21?! Stop playin'.

Damn now I REALLY feel like I'm back in Fullerton (or West Covina). Papa Gee looks like the old schoolyard monitor.

A little Rock Band action as well.

And Gian posted up like my Lolo used to.

Then we headed out to Canyonview Park to catch Toe-Knee and the rest of everyone that was at HoB at the Greet My Meat BBQ Memorial Day Event. Victory, Wildboyz, 21XL, and some other SDxLAxOCxSF fam.

Nice phone Mike Marcelo.

A pretty lazy day. I wanted to play sloshball, but I had to watch my Lakers play in Game 4. (Yea I know they lost. Suck it.)

I caught the second half of the game at Crab Huuuuut with the gals and Jay & Kris (5&A Dime)

Annabelle is always sexy and classy. Check out those hands!

Thanks Jay and Terry for making me pay for your bag of potatoes. Jerks. Peep the dry-erase board crab. Fresh.

Hope you all had a great Memorial Day!

The Block Party: Strikers All-Stars and The Beat Freaks (Videos)

I unfortunately forgot to take footage of the Choreo Cookies performance which is always on point. (Just search em on YouTube.) These aren't full-length videos, just a short clip from the sets of Strikers All-Stars and the Beat Freaks. And a little song and dance for the homie TK.

Strikers All-Stars.

The Beat Freaks. Goddamn sexy with the dance skills. Shorty just keeps going... and going... and going... and going...

♫ Happy birthday to you... ♫

The Block Party House of Blues SD Recap (Pictures)

To sum it up, There were A LOT of mother f*ckers up in there! I'd say about 90% of the people I've met in the past year in San Diego was at this party and they were all over the place. All 3 dance crews (Choreo Cookies, Strikers All-Stars, and The Beat Freaks) tore it up on stage. The DJs were on point. And basically everyone got f*cking trashed. 2 people went to urgent care, and I know we were taking care of one friend who may have had alcohol poisoning. What a night...

After a quick nap at bumsville, we got ready for the Block Party. We didn't get a chance to pre-party with everyone at the hotel so we made due with what was around the house. Victory Nightlife runs this.

Lots of birthdays to celebrate, including Josie's!

Birthday shot with Annabelle & Josie.

Once we got to HoB, I pretty much didn't see Josie or the Bumsville gals the rest of the night. Two people I did see are my co-worker Lizel (Kaba Legacy) and my friend from UCSD, Crystal!

And Lizel's little bro Erik. This new 21 year old has been living it up ever since his birthday. Welcome!

Lots of buds in the house. Sam and I go back to freshman year of college.

Edwin (Blends SD/Segue Mag), and Lanie & Bam (Hellz Bellz).

And Mr. Rhandy Yons himself. Happy birthday dude! Bet you can't guess his age.

Choreo Cookies are the f*cking best.

Strikers All-Stars (ABDC S4) were a last minute addition to the line-up. Great set.

Much love from SD to the guys from Florida! Goddamn 6-packs all over the place (pause).

Gels in the house.

Thanks for the 2 tickets Kimtan!

Allan (Univ). Moving to NY later this summer. Coolest cat.

A mash-up of SDxOCxLAxSF. Everyone. Shieeet.

Most of the night I was by TK's VIP area. It was straight up IGNANT in there.

KevMighty! (FYS)

Jerms (FYS) was snapping pictures alllll night.

You knew it was coming Rhandy.

MCing the main stage were Myron Marten (21XL) and TK (Victory Nightlife). Who's up next?

THE BEAT FREAKS!!

After an awesome performance, everyone sang Happy Birthday to Toe-Knee.

Back to the VIP area for more ignant sh*t. Toe-Knee you'z a beast man. I dunno how you promote AND host your own birthday party after escorting the Beat Freaks around. Take a break already!

Happy Birthday Vince! (Willy's Workshop)

Stacks Aly.

Twee (CA) and Jay (EOC) have been spotted.

Wuttup GUIL! Thanks for taking a few pictures for me with your long f*cking arms.

TK x Jon (Blends OC)

VIP area was crackin.

Eat bread Julz! Dude went to urgent care. Hope you're doing better man.

Everyone was up on the table dancing, including TM's Chanta.

Nash Quest (Univ) is making the move to LA soon. Hope to see you more often dude!

James, Kimtan, Stacy. Guess who's not drunk! (It's me. Seriously.)

And one with Mr. Marten.

Lights came on at 1:30am. I think they wanted to get all these drunk b*tches outta here. But before we left, I had to catch THE CLOSING ACT! The one and only Mark aka CHAUCHY! Tearin' it up.

TK x Scott Baldwin (OPP). Well at least their hands.

The aftermath. With the overfill of the VIP area and dancing on the tables there was ice, alcohol, and chaser all over the floor, plastic cups everywhere, soaked couch cushions all over the place, and an ineffective red rope dragged all over the floor. I've never seen HoB get so trashed after an event. A sign of a good party I guess. A slight photo revision here. See if you can spot it. If you know where it's at, hit me up @xjomox.

As for me, I had a good buzz at first, but it quickly faded as I found myself walking around a lot to hang out with different sets of people. I wish I got to take more pictures with all the new friends I made in the past year. Much love to the 5&A Dime peeps, Bumsville, Mindzalike crew, Wildboyz, Alphanumeric, Blends, Hellz... ummm just the SD crew for all being there! What a nutso night. A good run TK. Have another great year.
