Dec 11-What One's Eating: Hamburger Habit & Flaming Dr. Pepper

Friday night I made a last minute trip to LA with Bruce and Jasmine for Daniel's house-warming/holiday party at his new apartment. Here's a preview of the conversation between Bruce and Daniel:
"Hey Bruce you should come up for a little get-together at my house tonight." -Daniel
"Sounds good. Jasmine will come and I'll invite Jomo. Then there will be 4 of us." -Bruce

My expectations were set reasonably low...

We made a pitstop at Hamburger Habit which is only a few blocks away from the apartment. A classic burger is good, rain or shine.

This was a classic 50's burger joint with all the fixins.

Mexican carmels with your wait.

OH F*CK!! These look good.

I got the Sassy Cheese (cheeseburger) and added avocado and bacon. I might as well go all out since I don't know when I'll be back here again. Bruce got a burger and chili fries on the side.

Chow down when we're westward bound. (That was a spin on the old Westside Connection song, Bow Down for all you rookies.)

Next stop was Daniel's apartment. We were surprised to hear music and a decent amount of buzz coming from behind his front door. Daniel's very proud of his mulled apple cider and hot chocolate that he and his roommate made for their guests.

His other experiment - The Flaming Dr. Pepper:
The Flaming Doctor Pepper is a flaming cocktail said to taste like the soft drink Dr Pepper, although it does not contain any soda. It is usually made by filling a shot glass 3/4 full with Amaretto, and 1/4 high proof liquor (such as Everclear or Bacardi 151) to make it flammable. (The two liquors are not mixed; rather, the high-proof alcohol is layered on top to burn more easily.) The shot is then set on fire and dropped into a glass half-filled with beer. The flaming shot is extinguished by the beer, which foams up and is then quickly consumed. A common variation is to use Amaretto and KahlĂșa.

Very tasty drink. The flame almost melted our plastic red cups. I had 2 or 3 of these...

And my sincerest apologies Danny Boy. Your party was actually very fun. But I had a few too many of those drinks and was pretty much knocked out. Kudos to you sir. And your mac-n-cheese was dope too.
